Frequently asked questions
01How do updates work?
Prod Crate updates itself in the background with Sparkle, the standard updater for Mac apps. A new version installs the next time you relaunch, so it never interrupts a session. What changed in each release is in the Changelog.
02Are updates free?
Yes, on every plan. Updates are included with your subscription, and you never pay for a new version.
03How do I install it?
Open the .dmg, drag Prod Crate into your Applications folder, and open it. Sign in with your Prod Crate account and your library appears in the Finder sidebar.
04What are the system requirements?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and an internet connection to sign in and sync. Files stream on demand, so the app only uses disk space for what you pin for offline sessions.
05Does it run on Intel Macs and Apple silicon?
Both. It’s one universal download that runs natively on Apple silicon and on Intel Macs.
06Is it safe to install?
Yes. The app is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it before it opens. Only download it from this page.
07Do I need a paid plan?
The Mac app comes with Solo, Producer, and Studio, and every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. On the Free plan, your library is in the web app.
08When is Windows coming?
We’re building it now, and we’ll announce it in the Changelog when it’s ready rather than promise a date. Until then, your whole library works in the web app in any browser on Windows.
09How do I uninstall it?
Quit Prod Crate and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your files stay safe in the cloud, and they’re all there when you sign in again.
