Built by producers who lost too many sessions.
We make one thing: a sample library that sorts itself, opens in the Finder, and is still there when the drive isn't.
Why we build it
A sample library is never in one place. It is in a pack you bought in 2019, a folder of YouTube rips, four years of Splice downloads, a drive from an old machine, and a folder called “new” that has three folders called “new” inside it. Every producer we know has some version of this, and most have a drive they are quietly afraid to unplug.
The cost is not storage, it is time and lost work. You spend twenty minutes hunting for a kick you know you own, and buy another pack instead. You open a session from two years ago and half the samples are missing because a folder moved. The library gets bigger and less useful at the same time.
Prod Crate exists to end that. One library, in the cloud and in your Finder, sorted by instrument, key, and BPM without you filing anything — and never silently, because anything we are not sure about waits for you in Review. Your files stay files: real names, real folders, lossless, openable by any app on your machine. Nothing about the way you work has to change.
Why we started Prod Crate
Every producer we know has a drive they’re afraid to unplug. We started Prod Crate so a sample library is something you never have to think about.

Files stay yours
Real filenames, real folders, no proprietary container. Export the whole library whenever you like and it lands on your drive exactly as you would have arranged it yourself. Leaving is a feature, not a support ticket.
Nothing sorted silently
Sorting only acts when it is confident. Anything borderline goes to Review with its suggestion visible, and anything weaker stays in the Inbox. A tool that guesses quietly is worse than one that asks.
Lossless or nothing
Every WAV and AIFF is stored as FLAC — smaller, and identical sample for sample when decoded. You upload a WAV, you download a WAV. We will not trade your masters for a cheaper storage bill.
Works with the tools you already use
The library is a location in the Finder, so Ableton, Logic, FL, Serato and everything else opens it like any other folder. No plugin to install, no browser to live in, no new way to drag a sample.
